Decisions.....
Otto Scharmer, author of Theory U, offers summer 2025 courses.
How to arrive at good decisions is a big quandary when you are working with others.
Otto Scharmer, a senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has studied how listening, speaking and thinking together can allow creative decisions to emerge. He shares his insights through his work at the Presencing Institute, in his book Theory-U and via workshops.
When an organization needs to arrive at a decision, some basic premises for Scharmer are: bring all stakeholders to the table, encourage deep listening and then, after some moments given to quiet attention, allow the possibility of a wise decision to emerge - one that most likely no one had thought of when first joining the meeting - a decision that all stakeholders can align with.
Otto Scharmer has announced several interesting programs this summer:
Theory U: Leading Deep Transformation for Business, Society and Self - a Presencing Foundation Program outside of Berlin, Germany (Jun 30-Jul 4, 2025): Experience the U-process in depth, whilst learning how to apply it. Participation will count towards Pathways for Certification.
Executive Champions Workshop in Vermont, USA (Aug 19-22, 2025): A blend of workshop and retreat for leaders, offering a unique opportunity for reflection and connection in Vermont’s serene Green Mountains. Early bird rates until Feb 14.
Theory U: Leading Deep Transformation for Business, Society and Self - a Presencing Foundation Program in Philadelphia, USA (Jun 30-Jul 4, 2025): Experience the U-process in depth, whilst learning how to apply it. Participation will count towards Pathways for Certification.
